Module-level DTC records
Every record a module returns is kept with its status. Filter by active, pending, stored, and incomplete-monitor states — a monitor that hasn’t finished is never presented as a fault.
PoleLink for Mac · Public beta
PoleLink connects your Mac directly to a parked Polestar 2 over a VOE/ENET Ethernet cable. It reads the vehicle modules named in a reviewed capability profile, keeps every result — including modules that didn’t answer — and saves a VIN-redacted history on your Mac. No gateway box, no account, no cloud.
Beta profile: MY2023 Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor. Use only while parked. Independent software, not affiliated with or endorsed by Polestar or Volvo Cars.
How it works
Everything happens between your Mac and the car. PoleLink checks the connection before it reads anything, and it keeps what it found.
Run the VOE/ENET cable from your Mac’s Ethernet port — or a USB-C Ethernet adapter — to the car’s OBD-II port. Choose that wired interface in PoleLink.
A read-only checklist confirms the interface is up and addressed, exactly one vehicle answers DoIP discovery, and its announced VIN matches the vehicle you selected.
PoleLink activates routing, opens only reviewed diagnostic sessions, and reads identification and DTC records from each fixed module address. A module that times out is shown as not responding — never as a zero.
Each read is saved on your Mac with the VIN redacted. Compare it with an earlier baseline, export JSON, or produce a handoff PDF for a service visit.
What it reads
Generic OBD apps see a standard slice of the car. PoleLink reads the modules a reviewed Polestar 2 profile names, and tells you where every value came from.
Every record a module returns is kept with its status. Filter by active, pending, stored, and incomplete-monitor states — a monitor that hasn’t finished is never presented as a fault.
Module identification and selected values, such as the 12 V system voltage, come from a fixed allowlist of reviewed data identifiers, shown with their source.
Compare a new read with a baseline to see what appeared, cleared, or changed between sessions. Retention and pruning happen only when you confirm them.
A paginated summary of modules, faults, and comparisons to bring to a workshop conversation — with the VIN redacted.
Clears only codes the same modules reported in a readout from the last two minutes, after you confirm. It refuses on a low or abnormal 12 V reading, makes one attempt, then runs a verification read.
Clearing a code doesn’t repair the fault behind it.
Optionally connect an ELM327-compatible Bluetooth LE reader for generic OBD-II values and codes, always labelled separately from the model-specific readout.
Safety boundary
PoleLink isn’t a raw diagnostic console. An operation appears only when the active reviewed capability profile names it and the Mac implementation supports it. Everything else fails closed.
The profile ships inside the app and is validated before any readout is accepted. There is no hidden expert mode.
Never use PoleLink while driving. Connect and read only with the car parked, and remove the cable when you’re done.
Requirements
Beta status
We’d rather tell you exactly where things stand than oversell a tool that talks to your car.
The Mac Direct readout and confirmed clear are implemented, with automated coverage for DoIP framing, timeouts, per-module failure isolation, and clear evidence that can’t be replayed.
Real-vehicle checks across software versions, sleep and wake, disconnects, and specific cable lots — together with beta owners.
Use it parked, read before you clear, and share VIN-redacted feedback when something looks wrong. Your reports decide what the profile supports next.
FAQ
No. PoleLink is independent software from EverMed Research. It isn’t affiliated with, endorsed by, or supported by Polestar or Volvo Cars. Polestar and Volvo are named only to describe compatibility.
No. PoleLink for Mac talks to the car directly over the cable. Reading the car needs no account, no subscription, and no internet connection.
The beta profile covers the MY2023 Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor only. On anything else, PoleLink won’t run operations the profile doesn’t name. Tell us your model year and drivetrain when you join, so we know which profile to review next.
No. ECU coding, configuration writes, security access, software programming, routines, resets, and guessed scans aren’t available, and there’s no hidden mode that enables them. The only change PoleLink can make is the confirmed DTC clear described above.
No. Clearing removes stored codes from the modules that reported them; it doesn’t repair anything. If the fault is still present, it will come back. Read and keep the evidence first — that’s what a workshop needs.
Nowhere, unless you send it. Readouts are processed on your Mac and saved locally with the VIN redacted. PoleLink doesn’t send diagnostic data to us. Exports only happen when you choose to make one.
Yes. Simulation mode runs the full interface and reading flow with clearly labelled sample data, so you can learn the app before you plug in.
